An innovative reflection on the concept of suspended furniture.

the creation of our product ‘Gravity‘ was the result of a fruitful collaboration with Xilia, where we merged our creative vision with their extensive experience in surface design. We aimed to challenge some conventional limits of suspended furniture design, and the name itself evokes this bold technical and conceptual endeavor.

Starting from the idea of synergistically merging functionality and aesthetics, we utilized dedicated extrusions for the fixing and hidden electrification system, ensuring a practical yet elegant solution. The contrast between the solidity of wood and the thinness of the metal sheets was maximized, creating a unique visual effect.

The wall-mounting system with integrated LED gives Gravity unparalleled versatility, allowing users to customize dimensions and finishes to perfectly fit their environment. Ultimately, Gravity represents not only a piece of furniture but a personalized design experience.

Last but not least, we considered the aspect of creating a product that could be assembled and disassembled countless times to meet the needs of potential life changes.

MARTINELLI VENEZIA is a design studio based in Milan and Palermo, founded in 2015 by the architects Carolina Martinelli and Vittorio Venezia. The studio deals with art direction, furniture design, exhibition design, architecture and interior design, exploring issues concerning the relationship between tradition and local culture, the material properties and the technical possibilities of manufacturing processes. Their work has been exhibited in galleries and museums such as Musée du Louvre in Paris, MAXXI Rom, Triennale Design Museum in Milan, the Rossana Orlandi Gallery, Artopiagallery and The Aram Gallery in London.
